July 10, 2017

Hello!

I hope everyone had a great 4th of July! We had lots of fun here. We had brunch at a members house and he played the Star Spangled Banner for us and he cried because he really just loves America. So I hope you all enjoyed the fireworks and barbecues!

Transfers were this week, and Sister Petersen and I are both staying in Aalborg! We are so excited because we have loads of fun together. Plus our investigators need us so we had to stay! Speaking of investigators, it is going really well with Rune! He has been hesitantly working towards baptism, but this week we changed the entire perspective that we were teaching from, and it all seemed to click for him. So now he is happily planning on being baptized on the 22 Juli :) We met with him today finalized a lot of the plans for the baptism and got him all excited. He seems really determined to go through with it this time, so please please pray that he will pay attention to the Spirit he is feeling! As long as he focuses on what he is feeling and experiencing, he will make it just fine. But prayer works, so pray for Rune!

Speaking of prayer working..... Remember the baby seagull from last week? Well, the good news is, OUR PRAYER WORKED and when we came home, he was not on the ground dead nor stuck in the crevice :) We just assumed he got back up to the top and didn't think anything of it..... until 3 days later, when we came home AND HE WAS STANDING OUTSIDE OUR DOOR. on the ground. Staring at us. The little guy can't fly, and we are positive it is the same one. So what  happened? Well, what we are assuming is that instead of making it safely back to the top, the little bird probably DID  fall off the roof.... but somehow, he wasn't harmed. I don't know if he slowed himself with his almost developed wings or what, but he made it. It inspired some really cool thoughts for both of us. Sister Petersen commented that the whole drama showed how God reacts to our prayers. IT may have been a very simple, trivial thing.... but because it mattered to us, it mattered to HIm. He wants to be involved in the tiniest details of our lives, He really does... We just have to invite him! The other thing was that our prayer was answered in a very unexpected way. When we asked God to protect that little bird, we thought that meant he would make it safely back up to the nest.... but instead, it was to keep him safe during what should have been a fatal fall. I think a lot of times, we think that our prayers go unanswered because they don't get answered the way we think they will. But in reality, we have received our answer, we were just too blind or were facing teh wrong direction to see them. So my invitation to all of you is instead of looking harder and harder for something that isn't there, try looking differently instead. You might just find that your answers have been staring you in the face all along.

So that is the happy ending to last weeks sea gull drama. But now he is our best friend. But we don't feed him. Things are going great here in Denmark and I am loving every minute of it. I hope you all have a great week and remember to look for the silver lining!

Hail king and mother country!
Hail every Danne citizen,
who service as best he can!
Our old Denmark must endure,
as long beech reflects
its top in the oceans blue.
